Different treatment methods may be required depending on the type of bee and not all pest control companies will carry out treatment unless it’s a threat to human life, or poses a risk to the public.

Bees aren’t protected by law and can be treated, but this should be the last resort once all other avenues are exhausted. If the location of the nest is dangerous or removal isn’t possible, then eradication may be the only viable option.
A bee infestation can cause alarm and distress but it’s important to remember that they do not normally attack humans unless provoked. Instead of destroying any nests, it may be possible to relocate them somewhere suitable as bees are great pollinators and help many plants survive.
If you’ve got a bees nest in your premises, then you can probably see them entering through holes in the ground or near your walls/ roof area. Different types tend to nest in variable areas. Bees can be a problem, especially when they nest inside your home. lofts/attics are common places that nests can be found so it’s worth checking these areas as they are often forgotten.
We are in favour of bees, particularly the honey bee species as new studies have shown that the honey produced by bees is more beneficial for our health than some antibiotics. Honey is known as one of nature’s ‘superfoods’ and it’s important that honey production is protected and sustained.
It’s very important to remember that honeycomb is a source of food for humans. The honeycomb can get contaminated by insecticides or pesticides which can have devastating consequences. Other bees will steal the contaminated honey and ingest, ultimately killing them, or fly back to there nest poisoning other members of their colony.
The Health and Safety Executive’s Wildlife Incident refers to bees as “beneficial invertebrates that should be protected where possible” further stressing the need for bee preservation and protection.

A queen bee can lay approximately 2,000 eggs in just one day and around 3 weeks later, you have mature adults. This can cause their numbers to spike out of control quite quickly so swift action is recommended for this reason. As mentioned above, beehive removal services are recommended instead of extermination as relocating would preserve them. They are vital sources for pollination and we rely on them for a wide range of our foods. |
Wasps and hornets have a similar appearance to bees and it’s important to know what type of species you are dealing with. Wasps and hornets have more predatory characteristics and the chances of getting stung is alot higher than bees.
Wasps aren’t as large as bees; they have thinner heads with a black and yellow coloured jacket. Hornets are larger in size than both wasps and bees, measuring upto 4cm in length. Their patterns are yellow and dark brown and despite the fact that they are usually less aggressive than wasps, they can give a nasty sting.
Hornets tend to build nests in tree cavities although it’s not uncommon to find them inside buildings. Bees will have a hairy look, whereas wasps and hornets are smooth, shiny bodied.
Bees can cause structural damage to your premises as they explore the exterior and interior of buildings. They exploit any gaps or vulnerabilities and this is why it’s important to identify and remove a nest as soon as possible. If relocation isn’t possible, then they need to be destroyed unfortunately.
You need to fill or seal any gaps or holes as if they cannot enter, then creating a nest would be hard for them. A pest control technican can perform this task for you and this will also keep others pests out such as: rats, mice, and squirrels, etc.
Prevent them coming indoors by keeping your areas clean as they are attracted to various things such as perfume fragrances, flowery sweet scents and sugary snacks/fruit.
Soft drinks are full of sugar which they love, as bees like to feed on sweet nectar. Any spillage/crumbs should be cleaned up immediately as they could entice bees into your home.
There’s not much you can do for bee control outside and you should allow nature to run its course. it’s best to leave them be as they are crucial for our eco system.
Extenuating circumstances may cause more concern and if anyone is allergic to bee venom in your home or business, be extra careful and DO NOT attempt or go near their nests.
Furthermore, never swat at a bee as this could send signals to the rest of the colony that there is a threat and to attack.
Once summer is finished, most bees will not return to an old nest the following season. Old nests can be left alone and removal isn’t nessacarily needed. This is a common scenario with bees and wasps as the nest can be in some very tricky, hard to see or reach areas, like inside wall cavities.
Honey Bee Queens Can Live Up To 5 Years.
Male Bees (Drones) Cannot Sting You.
A world without bees would be troublesome and challenging considering that they are responsible for pollinating around a third of everything we eat. You should bare this in mind when considering lethal action that would permanently destroy a colony of bees.

This company came out same day and discovered a rat nest at my house! The member of staff was very nice man and took his time to explain everything professional service. I was happy with price as it was also 3 visits lots of dead ones on 2nd visit. Great job thank you very much
Fantastic service arrived within 1 hour, we had a pigeon in the eaves of our loft it was extremely difficult to get to the bird, however, the workman worked out a solution & managed to retrieve the pigeon. Can highly recommend this company & the friendly workman.
We do not recommend any home DIY methods as removing a nest can be very dangerous. It’s possible to go into anaphylactic shock just from 1 sting and although this is unlikely, there’s still that chance. Do not put yourself at risk!
